With a background in economics, Nelson was naturally drawn to financial services litigation, where legal strategy and business realities often intersect. He enjoys finding practical answers to legal questions that don’t lend themselves to obvious solutions. He approaches every engagement with thorough preparation and a genuine commitment to understanding—and achieving—a client’s objectives.
Born in San Antonio and raised in a military family, Nelson has lived throughout the United States and abroad. Those experiences instilled in him an appreciation for different perspectives and an ability to adapt quickly—qualities that continue to shape the lawyer he is today. Despite his itinerant upbringing, he is proud to call Chicago home.
Nelson traces his interest in the legal profession to watching A Few Good Men as a child. Like many future litigators, he was captivated by the courtroom theatrics and razor-sharp cross-examinations. He eventually discovered that practicing law involves considerably less drama than in movies but found the work itself even more rewarding. Outside the office, Nelson enjoys playing the piano, exploring film photography, cooking from scratch, and following nearly every sport imaginable.
